More than 300 transportation leaders, policymakers, wellness professionals, parks and recreation leaders, and others gathered for our first Southeast Greenways & Trails Summit in early October 2017. We shared best practices, built relationships, and talked about ways to inspire trail and greenway development in the Southeast. Southeast Summit energizes greenway advocates

An action-packed, three-day gathering in Durham, N.C., left more than 300 greenway advocates and partners energized to do more good in their communities. The gathering featured mobile workshops and active options to begin and end the conference and a packed slate of presentations in between.

Three decades of making connections with greenways

Meet Chuck Flink, our keynote speaker for the Southeast Summit. His first piece of advice for greenway planners, designers, and advocates: Look up. Greenways aren't about the asphalt or concrete or stone dust under foot, he says, but about the environments they pass through and the communities they connect.

Greenway painting, artist featured at Summit

Raleigh artist Autumn Cobeland found herself "awestruck" by Raleigh's extensive network of greenways when she and her husband starting training for triathlons. Thirty-plus paintings later, she's still inspired by greenways. Cobeland is speaking at the summit on a public art and greenways panel, and her paintings will be featured on Summit attendees' messenger bags.
