Steven Mitchell, a former board member and longtime East Coast Greenway advocate, recently earned a bicycle-friendly business gold rating from the League of American Bicyclists for his Mitchell Auto Group in Simsbury, Connecticut. His is the first auto retailer to achieve the League's highest rating. Among the benefits cited:
- Customers can borrow a bike and helmet, no charge, and ride on adjacent bike trails while their cars are being serviced;
- Employees and their families also are offered free bicycle tuneups once a year;
- Several times a year, the lower level of the Chrysler dealership is turned into a classroom with professional instructors who offer biking lessons.
