Greenway welcomes Filabi, Swaminathan as new trustees

The East Coast Greenway Alliance is pleased to announce Azish Filabi and Vignesh Swaminathan as new additions to its Board of Trustees.

Filabi, who was previously a member of the organization’s Advisory Board, and Swaminathan began their terms in September.

Now at 14 members, the Board of Trustees holds overall responsibility for governance, fiscal oversight and financial development for the East Coast Greenway Alliance. The board sets policy and ensures the financial health and viability of the Alliance.

Azish Filabi, New York: Azish Filabi, JD, MA is an associate professor of ethics and executive director of the Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics in Financial Services at The American College of Financial Services. She joined The College in June 2020 and previously worked in both the public and private sector helping manage, study and regulate social and ethical business behaviors. She most recently worked at BlackRock as vice president for investment stewardship, where she was responsible for corporate governance practices. A published researcher, Filabi is frequently called to present on business ethics and corporate culture at various forums. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree as an Echols Interdisciplinary Scholar from the University of Virginia, a Juris Doctor degree from the UVA School of Law, and a Master of Arts degree in international affairs from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.   

Vignesh Swaminathan, California: Vignesh Swaminathan has been engineering, innovating, and deliverying in the active transportation space since 2011 and is currently CEO and President of Crossroad Lab, a Cupertino, California-based innovative active transportation firm specializing in feasible protected intersections. Crossroad Lab has built the largest protected bikeway network on the west coast and works with private tech campuses, foundations, public agencies and non-profits. He also serves as the sustainability commissioner for the City of Cupertino and on the Citizen advisory board with Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency. Prior to joining Crossroad Lab, he gained valuable experience as a design engineer with Mark Thomas & Company and the City of San Jose. Swaminathan earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from San Jose State University.
